Once upon a time, two people from different parts of America met on an interview for a graduate program. They became fast friends that share a love of dancing to funk music, Asian cuisines, and drawing silly things.
Their first assignment at Hyper Island was to fill a book with sketches of their design thinking process. Austin and Maggie looked at the nervous faces of the individuals in their program that had never drawn before. They thought this would be a good chance to help their classmates get over their fear of drawing (and blank pages) by creating a weekly DRINK and DRAW.
Austin and Maggie have drawn throughout their lives, but strongly believe that anyone who can write their name can learn to draw. They believe anyone can be creative. They discourage using fancy drawing tools or spending too much time on creating masterpieces. Their Drink & Draws are intended to help people become more comfortable drawing, build creative confidence, and have fun.
